High winds challenging Northern Ireland airports

High winds over the weekend resulted in some flights scheduled to land at Derry airport being diverted to Belfast International and George Best City airport. The winds also caused havoc throughout the Province leaving up to 3000 people with power for a number of days. This was mainly as a result of electricity cables coming down from branches hitting them.
