The coming months could result in big changes for Ireland's airports if Fine Gael is elected this Friday. According to the party's manifesto, the €3 travel tax introduced under the current government could be abolished if Ryanair and Aer Lingus agree to increase flights and passenger numbers. In addition, the current DAA hold on Dublin, Shannon and Cork airports may be removed as they would be allowed to "operate independently".
