Brian Lenihan has announced a reduction in the airport tax for 2011 which will be reviewed in 2012. The tax which was €10 will now be €3 and this against the industry standard where most airports are introducing or increasing the tax. It is hoped that this move will improve Irish tourism which has been greatly affected over the last couple of years. The Minister warned that this will be reviewed in 2012 and if it is abused by airlines by increasing fares that the original tax cost will be reintroduced.
